Statement.  This work explores the native Columbine (Latin, aquilegia) flower through the intersection of organic geometry, and LEDs, and material science. Constructed from iridescent polycarbonates, steel, fiber optics, LEDs and 3D-printed components, the 10-foot-tall Columbine forms utilize shifting natural and digital light to create a 24-hour visual experience that oscillates between a magnificent native wildflower and a bioluminescent bloom from another world.       

Physical Description.  Steel tube stem with professional chromatic teal powder coating with welded steel wire petal structured. Petals aredichroic (iriedescent) 3form polycarbonate. Mini RGB LED spotlights with fiber optics create the stamen on the flower and illuminate each petal. 3d printed and dichroic painted columbine flower spurs. Can be mounted into ground, flower pot, or on a steel stand.
