Lead Builder Ian Nicolosi is a trained engineer and master builder. With a degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Utah, Ian is passionate about pushing the limits and exploring new ways of integrating innovative materials into our sculptures. Emily and Ian Nicolosi are supported by computer-aided design modelers and builders across the US that bring in a variety of modeling, fabrication, and on-site installation skills.

In Theory Art Studios flagship sculptures deploy steel structures to compose iconic symbols (e.g. star, heart, tear drop). These symbols are made new through fascinating geometric forms, iridescent materials that deliver shifting colors, and programmed digital light at the cutting edge of LED technology.

Our sculptures are deeply rooted in the specific contexts where they are placed. They reflect upon our human experience within these environments, exploring our connections to the land, to each other, and to our shared humanity.

In Theory Art Studios forefronts environmental sustainability in their process, using upcycled materials and powering our studio with solar.
