Artist's Statement
My practice explores horizons of possibility, utilizing a lens of radical hope to examine human evolution toward a more socially and ecologically just future. I reject the notion that contemporary art should require a specialized academic background to be understood; instead, I employ universal iconographic forms in my monumental sculptures to ensure my work remains accessible and resonant with the public. I seek to immerse the viewer in landscapes of beauty by recasting these symbolic forms through intricate geometries and dichroic, iridescent materials that activate through the kinetic interplay of natural and digital light. I use these monumental and visually stunning forms to draw my audience into deeper narratives created with interdisciplinary media (sound, narrative, interactive electrical components).
For me, art must serve as an extraordinary catalyst for connection—a site of wonder that invites collective reflection on our intricate relationship with the natural world and with each other. This practice is dual-rooted in scientific innovation and social inquiry. While I continuously iterate on materials science and LED technologies to create moments of aesthetic joy, I utilize my background—specifically a doctorate in Human Geography focused on climate change mitigation—to ground my work in the most pressing socio-environmental challenges of our time.
Environmental stewardship is fundamental to my process. My entire process prioritizes sustainability, from the integration of upcycled and bio-based materials to the operation of a 100% solar-powered fabrication studio. Informed by the Burning Man tradition of large-scale, immersive installations, I strive to create works that transport audiences beyond the mundane to a transformative space of collective inspiration and hope
