The gaia hypothesis posits that the earth is one interconnected organism. In a time of burgeoning environmental problems, the piece is intended to demonstrate that humans need to realize the connection between all living organisms in order for earth to flourish.This is conveyed through the metaphor of a cherry bonsai with a human-like figure sitting under it that represents earth/gaia. The figure holds out thier hand- when a human holds their hand, it illuminates, and the light travels from their hand, to their heart, the earth, up their arm, and out the branches to a final glorious reaction of a beautiful pattern playing on the cherry blossoms.
